What
the Bible says about Smearing
God
does not support the use of Smear Campaigns. In fact the Bible
says that revilers (those who speak abusively of others)
will not be permitted to enter God's Kingdom. Under the Mosaic Law
individuals who made deliberate and false accusations against
someone, were severely punished - even put to death.
To
speak injuriously of no one, not to be belligerent, to be
reasonable, exhibiting all mildness toward all men. (Titus 3:2)
Yet
these [men] are speaking abusively of all the things they really
do not know; but all the things that they do understand naturally
like the unreasoning animals, in these things they go on
corrupting themselves. (Jude 1:10)
Let
YOUR utterance be always with graciousness, seasoned with salt,
so as to know how YOU ought to give an answer to each one.
(Colossians 4:6)
Let
a rotten saying not proceed out of YOUR mouth, but whatever
saying is good for building up as the need may be, that it may
impart what is favourable to the hearers. (Ephesians 4:29)
she
was found to be pregnant....However, Joseph her husband, because
he was righteous and did not want to make her a public spectacle,
intended to divorce her secretly. (Mathew 1:18-19)
The
loose conduct of foolishness is sin, and a ridiculer is something
detestable to mankind.(Proverbs 24:9)
The
one walking about as a slanderer is uncovering confidential talk,
but the one faithful in spirit is covering over a matter.
(Proverbs 11:13)
He
that is going about as a slanderer is uncovering confidential
talk; and with one that is enticed with his lips you must have no
fellowship.( Proverbs 20:19)
In
case a Witness scheming violence should rise up against a man to
bring a charge of revolt against him....and if the Witness is a
false Witness and has brought a false charge against his brother,
you must do to him just as he had schemed to do to his brother,
and you must clear away what is bad from your midst. (Deuteronomy
19:16-19)
There
are six things that Jehovah does hate; yes, seven are things
detestable to his soul: lofty eyes, a false tongue, and hands
that are shedding innocent blood, a heart fabricating hurtful
schemes, feet that are in a hurry to run to badness, a false
witness that launches forth lies, and anyone sending forth
contentions among brothers. (Proverbs 6: 16-19)
What!
Do you not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God's
kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters,
nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who
lie with men, nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor
revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God's kingdom. (1
Corinthians 6: 9-10)
Every
man must be swift about hearing, slow about speaking, slow about
wrath... (James 1:19)
If
anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight
reign on his tongue, he deceives himself and his worship is
futile. (James 2:26)
The
tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the
body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his
life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. (James 3:6)
Brothers
do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother
or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. Now if you
judge law you are not a doer of the law, but a judge....but who
are you to be judging your neighbor? (James 4:11-12)
